hello everyone
i have a z270e and i do not remember ever updating it and i checked the version and it is from almost 2 years ago version 0906 and there is 3-4 newer versions for system stability and stuff

so do i need to update my bios ?
i have problem with my pc heat and cursor freeze and stuff like that
i am running the 7700k cpu and a 1070 gtx oc

Updates to patch vulnerabilities found in Spectre and Meltdown. They are pretty heavily publicized vulnerabilities.

Of course a BIOS update can always cause a new bug. More likely will fix existing bugs. I doubt it will have any effect on heat or cursor freeze. Heat isn't a problem unless it is going over 80C. Then it's time to consider improving your cooling or tweaking fan settings (if an option).

It is also a possibility that a BIOS update will brick a computer. Usually when the update is interrupted. I've never had it happen and have done many updates but have read the warnings. Although I've never seen a specific event cited. So, there is risk. However small it may be. Just don't do it during a storm or windy weather when a...
