I have a dual channel memory kit (GSkill TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz) out of the two one failed yesterday. The product is in warrenty I just wanted to ask was that do i need to replace both the ram stick in order to have the dual channel capabilities or only replacing the single stick would do the same.

You should definitely call the manufacturer before you RMA it and see how they want to handle it. However, make sure you get both sticks replaced because RAM has to work in tested pairs. They can't just send you random new stick and hope it works with the existing one because it might not.

If bought as a kit, the manufacturer will likely want the 'kit' returned for the RMA process - ie both modules.

Sold as a kit, typically will mean they came from the same batches of raw components. So if one has failed, it's certainly possible the other will go too. RMA'ing and replacing both now would be simpler than replacing one at a time.

DDR4 TridentZ failing (over time) though, is pretty rare.... How are you determining one module has failed?

My PC was not starting up with both the ram sticks and also the dram led blinked on the motherboard during the POST when i tried to start it with only 1 stick it booted without any problem but it did not boot when i tried to boot with the other single ram stick.
