Hey guys, so I just got a brand new motherboard and CPU, and wanted to ask how much can I overclock this CPU safely and what voltage do you recommend for my Mobo?
I have an aftermarket cooler with a decently big heatsink.

Mobo: Asus b450 tuf gaming
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x
Cpu cooler: DeepCool Gammax C40
(Cant seem to find pics of c40 on the internet but its basically a gammaxx 400 but with a smaller fan)

The reason im asking is becuase I cant test it on this rig myself yet, my ram has yet to arrive in the mail making it impossible for me to boot...

Thanks!! :)

Add 1 or 2 40cm coolers on vrm. On that mobo vrm gets pretty toasty. And try to overclock go slow by slow soo you can find the best settings and voltage :D
Ultimate overclocking on any processor is really a guess, that's why they call it 'the silicon lottery'. But that TUF is not a strong overclocking board because the VRM is pretty weak... a 6 core could maybe do 4.1G, sustained, in a heavy all-core workload and don't be surprised if you don't even get 4.0 if you're picky about what 'stable' means.

But that's not the way to overclock a 2600X cpu anyway. With an 'X' cpu your best strategy is to enable the performance boost over-rides and then find the lowest stable voltage possible using off-set adjustments so it maintains it's highest boosts on more cores longer. It's called PBO overclocking; if you get it right, and have some good cooling on the CPU, you can get two cores to boost to 4.3Ghz and stay there even during stress tests. And that is what you want for best performance in games since they don't hit more than two threads heavily. And since you're only boosting a couple cores to that level the (relatively) weak VRM in that motherboard won't be as big a factor.
