Looking for suggestions on best parts to choose to upgrade my current PC which would be compatible and work the best with my current parts. This community is one of the most knowledgeable in this area as far as I know and so I thought I would ask you guys. I am looking to upgrade my current motherboard and RAM, because I purchased a Ryzen 5 1600X a year and a bit back and failed to realise that it was not compatible with my current mobo, and only now am I getting around to finally upgrading it. This PC is over 8 years old now and I have only upgraded the GPU thus far pretty much, so its really starting to fall behind with most modern games and also runs quite slow generally. Perhaps I should also buy some SSD memory for faster bootups?

My current parts:

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
CPU: After replacing motherboard, will be an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X. Currently AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.
RAM: 2x 4GB HyperX DDR3 ram sticks, totalling 8GB DDR3.
GPU: AMD RX 480 8GB
PSU: I believe it is a Corsair CX650 650W, but I will doublecheck this when I get home and update this.

I'll be rechecking this thread so tell me if there is any extra information required which I did not provide and I will do my best to provide it. Thanks!

You will also need DDR4 memory. Pick out at least 2x4GB 2666MHz, but the higher the better. DDR4 3000 and 3200 are popular for best price/performance. Be sure you get a B350 motherboard (or B450, X370, or X470). The A320 series isn't meant for overclocking or performance systems.

Other than that, you should be okay with your RX 480 8GB for mid-range 1080p 60fps gaming. Some games are not very optimized and would give less performance.
