I have AT&T Fiber network. Fiber converter to Ethernet > Ethernet switch > AT&T Router / Modem / WAP combo hardware. The house is wired with Ethernet cable to all rooms. I want to plug in an apple airport to another room but errors come up. Airport is setup as bridge. No valid IP address and no valid DNS server. How do I get them to talk?

Not 100% sure what you have but I suspect you are trying to plug into a switch installed before the router.

The path must go ISP---router---switch---devices.

Unless you pay for more you generally only get a single internet IP address. The routers purpose is to share this IP with multiple devices. If you place a switch before the router in most cases the router still has claimed that 1 IP address you get. Even if you got a different device to work then the router would not have a IP so nothing else would work
