I just installed new i7 4790k in my pc. The cpu gets to 90C degrees after just few minutes after turning on, idle.

The fan is spinning full. Stock intel fan, I think it dosnt have thermal paste applied and I didnt apply it either.

I looked at voltage in Intel XTU and everytnih looks fine

Solution
What previous cpu? Didn't 4790k come with a cooler?

Looks like the cooler isn't doing a good job. Get a Cooler Master Hyper 212

If each surface was completely flat you could get away with no thermal paste but that's not the case mostly. Thermal paste is used to fill the imperfections and that tiny gap i mean TINY can make a huge difference in temps as the heat transfer needs to happen quickly.

Just a pea drop in the middle of cpu, put heatsink on carefully square to the braces. Once in that position, tighten heatsink in an X fashion like tyre nuts. Once finger tight do a half more turn with a screw driver. Or if no room for hands just easily turn screw driver until you feel it stop with no pressure from you, then do a half turn more with pressure.

I Installed the paste, set the power option to save. When idle it runs fine at40C.
When rendering it still gets over 90C at 100% working.
I think I should edit settings in XTU But it crashes and reboots and changes are not saved? I reinstall the xpu and it the same

It sounded like from your other reply you were using another cooler from a lesser cpu to cool the 4970k.

Good luck with the cryorig, it's a decent hsf and should solve your temp problems.

Remember to reapply thermal paste and also just a pea drop in the middle.
