Is i5 8400's frequency a problem?

i5 + gtx 1060 became rather popular combination recently. I thought about getting it too. The only thing which seems strange to me is a frequency of 2,9(with TurboBoost). It is less then majority of same price processors have. Now i think that i5 9600k is ideal choice especially because i sometimes run old games/software not optimised for 6 cores but still CPU bound.

The i5 8400 will boost much higher than that, it's Boost is actually 4.0GHz, 2.8 GHz is its base speed.
As always, check prices carefully, it's all too common for older parts to be more expensive than current ones.
Don't be too blinded by the feeling that you need the absolute best; the little i5 8400 comes within a few FPS of its far more expensive siblings in the reviews and the i5 9600K isn't much better, but needs a more expensive motherboard and far better cooling-which all add to the cost.
