I know that most laptops can't be upgraded, since most cpus are welded to the motherboard and it has to be very specific cpus. I know that this laptop can have it's RAM upgraded but I'm not sure about the CPU. I'm asking this out of curiosity, and because the current one is one of the old generation which isn't particularly good. I kinda don't want to go poking around inside and lose it's warranty, and if I even consider changing it, it will only be in the distant future. But out of curiosity, is it upgradable?

Current CPU: i7-6700HQ

Not at home. It's FCBGA1440. BGA being ball grid array, or more simply put soldered balls gluing chip to mobo.

The easiest way to find out today is not by looking at the motherboard, but the CPU name on ARK. Intel usually note the supported socket types and a process of elimination (with the other model's CPUs in the same laptop range) can help you figure out the rest.
