Ok guys, Im losing my damn mind over this!
I've been trying to OC my i7 7700k for months now!
I cant find my problem or solution anywhere online.
So my motherboard is asus prime h270m plus
I have the latest BIOS update.
Every time I try to change my core ratio to 50(or anything above 45) it goes back to 45, literally the same moment. Its not even a problem where I set my wanted multiplier amount and it doesnt work in the windows itself, but it literally wont change in bios.
No matter what I do!! I've tried turbo mode off/on, speedstep off/on, I tried syncing all cores or per core, i tried everything.
The voltage does change tho, so Im not sure what the cause of this problem is.
this short video shows the problem

Solution
The H270 doesn't support full overclocking. Only the Z170 and Z270 boards support that. The best you can do on non Z boards is locking the cpu at its max turbo boost.
Yep, H-series motherboards don't do overclocking; except on rare occasion and it's usually taken away by a bios update. For what it's worth, the i7-7700K does just as well a 4.5GHz as it does at 5.0GHz. I had one for over a year and spent lots of money getting it to 5.0Ghz and it made very little difference.

*I have an Asus H170 Pro Gaming and it can overclock RAM to 2400 and 2666. But CPU overclocking is not supported; actually I haven't tried it but I doubt that it is. RAM overclocking is rare on H-boards. CPU overclocking even more so.
