Hdd, is it alright for me to leave my Hard Drive sort of hanging freely because I only have one hard drive bay and it full but I want to expand my storage and I already have the hard drive, could I zip tie it on top of the bay because there is free space there or am I better off just buying a ssd. Thank you

Solution
We used to mount HDDs with elastic cord to eliminate vibration and noise. It's actually better for the HDDs than screwing them to the case because they're free to vibrate instead of being held by the case, thus putting less stress on the bearings. It's not as good if you drop the case while transporting it, but hopefully you're careful enough not to drop the case.

I'm a big fan of velcro zip ties. Just make sure you mount the drive so it can't slip out, and that the failure of one or two zip ties or bungee cords will not result in the drive dropping.

You'd be better getting a new pc enclosure with more space for storage devices.
Using zip-ties on SSD would be fine, but not on mechanical drives. HDD has to be secured appropriately.
