I have a Seagate BlackArmor NAS 220. One of the 2 drives in the mirrored RAID1 array failed. I replaced the drive with an identical model/firmware version drive.

I followed instructions to rebuild the array. After claiming the new drive the NAS hangs and no longer lets you connect to the web interface. If I take out the new drive the unit boot correctly again.

I have tried with 3 different new drives.

I have tried zeroing the drive with diskpart CLEAN, I am then able to get to the step to claim drive again and ONCE was able to get to Recover link. The progress gets to 99.7% of the rebuild and then the NAS reboots and starts the rebuild again (it went through this cycle 3-5 times)

Thanks for your reply.

Seagate support is a joke! I have been back and forth with them for days now. They dont read what I wrote and keep sending me generic (stupid) stuff like this is how you install the drive. Obviously the drive is installed correctly if the NAS sees it and let me claim it in the first place.

Is there a real person I can talk to at Seagate regarding this? I have already wasted days on this and probably should just backup the data and format everything and start from scratch, but I really dont want to have to redo all the settings, shares and permissions again.

Will be sending you a PM.
