so when trying to update my bios because of a acpi error when trying to install windows the motherboard does not detect .cap files. As a random idea I renamed the file a .rom file and it does read it and try to update. It even states that the bios has been updated but when it restarts its still the old bios version 1602. Im not sure how to proceed at this point and I am truly out of ideas. Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm doing everything from the ez update. I originally tried to install windows but got the error about the unsupported acpi bios. I then tried to update the bios on a fat32 formatted USB stick and got my current problem with it not seeing .cap files. I also did use the renamer and that didnt help. I then for the hell of it renamed the z87.cap to z87.rom in which it then read the file and even opened up and ran in the as update. It would say bios has updated and needs to restart but i would still be stuck on bios version 1602

Tried that...read my second post. It will not see any .cap file. Then after renaming it a .rom file it will see it and run it. It Will tell me that the bios has updated and needs to restart. After the restart I open the bios and its still version 1602. I've tried the 3 latest bios and nothing will stick

Whats strange is the acpi bios error when trying to install windows...its the only reason I'm trying to update the bios so if I can get around that I dont care which bios I run. I'll try doing a dos update tomorrow though and see if that works
