Will my motherboard boot a NVME M.2 SSD from a PCIE adapter card?

Have an ASROCK Z97 OC Formula

would like to get a samsung 970 evo with a pcie adapter like this one:

will it work? didn't see any info on ASRock's site to confirm.

I'm not a 100% certain, but the oldest PC I've actually seen successfully do this is a Z170.

The general consensus seems to be "No", not NVMe but you may be able to get a SATA SSD to boot.

Your post lead me to USAFret saying:

"Most Z97 boards can't boot from that.
I think some few can with a later BIOS upgrade."

Which lead me to check my the bios notes on the manufacturer site where it says "Add NVME support" on Revision 1.30 for my board.
