Extreme Lag Spikes on AMD Gaming Laptop

Hi,

Back in September I had managed to save up £700 to purchase a moderate gaming laptop - I bought the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-42 Gaming Notebook (AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, AMD Radeon RX 560X 4G, 15.6" FHD IPS Display, Black)

I was super pleased at first and was able to play games like PUBG on moderate settings without any lag. However, two months later I can't even play Minecraft without lag!

Same with CSGO, I can play the game but every 2-3 minutes I get horrible lag spikes that render the game unplayable. With Minecraft, I've tried everything from installing Optifine and lowering my graphic settings to the bare minimum, to even changing the JVM arguments (after reinstalling java) to allocate the full 8gb of Ram to the game.

When I get the lag spikes, my FPS drops to like 1 fps and despite there being 8gb of usable ram, the game only actually uses 400mb or so? It's really weird, I get the same lag spike issue with CSGO, and I can guarentee it's 100% not my internet.

I had similar issues with Fifa 19, with which on some boots I could play the game smoothly and perfectly whereas at other times, it would be so laggy that it was like I had 100 chrome tabs open while playing the game or something.

Run task manager and see if your CPU % is high during these games. Next, has this occurred after any Windows or driver updates? Have you tried to system restore to an earlier time or clean install?

What have you done so far regarding troubleshooting?
