I am currently running:
I3-3240
Gtx 660 (upgrading to 780)
8gb ram and
1tb hardrive.
Will a 500w psu be enough to support the 780 or will I need to upgrade ?
Thanks !

500w would probably work but I know my old 780 recommended 42A on the 12v rail which means going for a good quality 550w or higher.

The trouble is 500w on its own is meaningless. Your ‘500w’ only claims 22A 264w on the 12v rail, the 12v rail is the most important. It gets its claimed 500w by adding the 3.3v & 5v rails. A high quality 500w psu you would expect over 450w on the 12v rail alone.

A Corsair CX550 would be ok https://www.scan.co.uk/products/550w-corsair-cx550-fully-wired-80plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-single-rail-458a-120mm-fan-atx-psu?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIt7uviLj33gIVgrHtCh2sHQ1SEAQYASABEgJIPvD_BwE

Be careful though, even Corsair and EVGA have had poor psu models, not as bad as the one you have but still ones I would avoid.

The...
Oh dear, that looks like a junk quality psu. From what I found it’s only rated at 22A on the 12v rail which is 264w. That is what you would expect from a 300w psu.

My old 780 recommended 42A on the 12v rail which meas finding a quality 550w or greater.

Also there is a massive difference between low and high quality psu’s, don’t cheap out on it. The psu is probably the most important part of your pc, it powers everything and can damage other components if it fails.

Alright thanks a lot for that info. So a brand like EVGA or Corsair is what I should stick too right ? Known quality brands. Back to my point 500w is sufficient enough (but will need to upgrade now anyway lol)

The 550w I linked is 45.8A on 12v. It’s only supposed to be 50w more than your 500w according to its sticker but it’s actually over twice the 12v power.
