greetings soo i'm thinking on update my Intel i5 6500 to one intel i7 7700K, but my moetherboard is an asus maximus hero VIII, and seing that in two years we are now on the 9th generation, you guys believe is a good idea pay 369E, sins for example the I7 9700k costs just 140 more? and yes i know that for the 9th Generation i must buy also a new board, but that is just the "Q" of my doubt.... if it's worth it buy this new CPU and board , or i will be more than ok with the I7 7700k?

Solution
i7-7700k is a very nice upgrade.
I would consider that 7700k a good upgrade option.
Worth is something only YOU can determine.

If you have the budget for a i7-9700K upgrade and are a gamer, you will forever be second guessing yourself if you did not buy the i7-9700K.

Solution
It sounds like you have a relatively high-end motherboard, so if you want to keep your board, the i7-7700K would be the best option. Just keep in mind that the i5-8600K performs similar, or perhaps slightly faster, and the i5-9600K slightly faster still. So, depending on pricing, one of those might also be a decent option, even if a new board were required. Or something like a i7-6700k on your existing board, if you can find one for significantly less than a 7700K.

Perhaps it would be good to list the rest of your system specs, and what you use the system for though. Depending on your other hardware, it's possible that some other component upgrade, such as a graphics card, might provide larger performance gains.

hi "cryoburner" and first of all thanks for your help and really sorry for only now be answering your reply, but last week has very hard to me in questions of work... so the real doubt is more if i realy will be OK with the 7700K or its better to buy the new board and the new 9th gen.. because right now the 7700K costs over 369Eur, and for exemple the 8700k costs 459eur, and the 9700k costs 496eur... in what im afraid is on buying the 7700K and in 2 yearsi be force to chance again, and also i i'm afraid that on buying the 7700K for saving some money will result on year benefict... soo thats is my doubt... and my PC specs are...

Moetherboard: Asus Maximus Hero VIII
CPU: I5- 6400
Memory: Kingston Savage Dual 32GB Drr4 2400Mhz
GPU: Asus strix GTX 1070 OC
Sdd: 2X Samsung EVO 850 (500GB)
PSU: EVGA Supernova 2Gold 750W

soo this are the specs of my PC that i build 2 years ago and on that time the last CPU generation was the 6th and now we have 3 generations more... and i realy don't know if is and good idea buy this just for saving 300eur... ofcouse 300 eur is alot of money but if i choose this one i hope at list can keep for 3 years if can this 7700 sopport 3 years instead of saving i will have to expend more 650 just to keep update...
