Hello everyone at toms hardware, i am looking to do more overclocking on my i7 7700k. want to get as much out of it as i can, so i am looking for a high performing cooler for my i7 7700k.

my current cpu cooler is an cryorig h7. This does the job somewhat but sometimes temps get really high into the upper 90s under high stress while gaming. my i7 7700k is currently overclocked to 4.8 GhZ but i am looking to push it a bit more up to 5 GhZ or even a little more if possible, but i cannot do this with my current cooling solution.

I am looking for a liquid cooler that will keep my cpu cool at the clock rate i am planning to overclock to. Price is not really an issue, if it does the job good then it's good for me but a lower price is always good but the temps are the priority. Also i am looking to purchase a new pc case, i am not sure which one but i know i have to consider how much space i have for the cooler and such.

thank you for reading.

Hello Steven thanks for responding. I have a question regarding your recommendation of looking at the custom loop site you suggested. I went through with the configuration for my parts and my preferences etc and i completed the "setup" part. the total comes to 372.77 €. Now this price i can afford but i am wondering if the price listed is a good one and/or flexible or you know of another manufacturer while still maintaining good temperatures.

As you can most likely tell i am not familiar with water cooling at all so i apologize for any questions that might seem picky. I have done some research and i know of closed and open water cooling and i'm wondering if closed water cooling is a good way to go or not or if they would not be good at cooling my cpu effectively. i know they are cheaper but i don't know if they are a good option for what i am wanting. Thanks again :)

The custom loops are a premium and require more attention as you will need to maintain them, draining the fluid annually. More of an enthusiasts option really.

You can get similar results from an AIO cooler, here is a great article to help you decide which one would best meet your needs - https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cpu-coolers,4181-2.html

Solution

Has lots of "bling bling" but it is not the best. Actually i find NZXT cooling products with lots of problems when it comes to software (one of them is ramping up and down the fans when it is set to fixed 100% fan speed). From 3 AIOs from NZXT 2 had this problem. From 5 corsair cooling products none of them had problems.

I've only got the one I have from Corsair, I'd recommend it but the model I've got, it is not for sale as far as I know. Might be that the Kraken 62 has been heavily advertised and there for came up as a well reputed alternative to the 350 $ one, at least in my mind.

Thanks for the link. I took a look around and i saw the cooler master masterliquid -
https://www.newegg.com/global/uk-en/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16835103275 - and decided to go for that i think. Do these coolers have any compatibility requirements for motherboards? reason i bring this up is i have a cheaper motherboard the z170 hd3p. I also have chose which case i would like, i read about it and it says it can support up to 360mm on the top and maximum 55mm thickness. to me this sounds right but i'm not sure if it does to someone more informed than me.

as far as my own experiences with aio coolers (have had my fair share) I would highly reccomend corsair h100i, h110i and h115i, all three are superb at cooling and run pretty silent if you buy aftermarket high sp fans for them (or even silent fans since high sp is meaning less and less with newer rads) but before all of that, check your case manual and make sure you have enough room for a 240/280mm radiator. hope this helps :)

oh I agree completely, don't get me wrong I was just saying that if that was too much the 100 would work as well. of course the h150 is superior and will keep the cpu far cooler and help him oc to more extreme ranges and vcore.
