3rd generation Intel CPU

So I'm thinking of buying a new PC (mainly for gaming) since the old one I have is rather slow.

Core i7 3770 3,9 GHz 3-rd Generation
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 motherboard
16 gigs of DDR3 RAM
240 Gb SSD Patriot Spark
2 Tb HDD Seagate Constellation
ATI Radeon RX580 Red Devil
8Gb DDR5 256 Bit-

I was really wondering if the CPU is too old to be bought? I mean I didn't really follow the new stuff since I didn't have any money for it, but now that I saved up I'm really questioning is it worth buying the 3rd gen Intel cpu since I saw they're already releasing the 8th gen? Many thanks.

Truly suggest you do a couple of searches about frame rates on that 3770 with modern titles. There are quite a few videos out with respectable frames using that CPU. The bigger question here would be what are they ASKING for that used computer? Where there are some respectable parts involved...keep in mind that the SSD and GPU in that build are available pretty inexpensive right now. Other than the RAM involved you could build a new Ryzen system that would easily be the match of this on the low low.
