I am attempting to upload a recording from an old 1980s micro cassette player to my laptop. The micro cassette player I purchased has a 2.5mm jack, so I purchased a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter.

When I plug my 3.5mm headphones into the adapter you can not hear anything. When I plug the micro cassette player into a digital recorder or the audacity recording program on my laptop you can hear the recording slightly with volume settings maxed out. Not loud enough to work with.

The adapter states it is a "2.5mm Balanced Male to 3.5mm Stereo Female Audio Connection Adapter Cable". Could it be low volume because it is a stereo adapter?
