So currently I have a MSI 970A-G43 with 8 GB DDR3 and my CPU on this motherboard is an AMD fx-4300 3.8ghz.

I want to replace my motherboard and cpu because I've had them for 3 years so they're kinda running out. I want to replace my motherboard with the ASRock B450M Pro4 and the cpu with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600. The motherboard requires DDR4 ram so I'm gonna have to buy new ram and the chipset is also different.

My quesiton is: What will happen upon reboot when I've replaced my motherboard and cpu? Will I have to reinstall Windows or is it possible to use the same windows I currently have?

1. What OS? A2suming Windows 10, For the OS activation, read and do this before you change any parts:

2. Will it simply boot up?
Probably not. You need to prepare for a full wipe and reinstall.
With a change like this, there are 3 possible outcomes:
1. It boots up just fine.
2. It fails completely
3. It boots up, but you're chasing issues for weeks.

A clean install is strongly recommended, often required.
