Hi. recently on black friday i purchased a AMD Ryzen 7 1700 for a staggeringly low $145 NEW and since the base clock speed for the 1700 is a bit poultry (3.0ghz -3.2ghz boost all cores) i was wondering if it is safe to overclock on the stock cooler (Wraith Spire LED) with this motherboard: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AX370M-DS3H-rev-1x#kf
I have never overclocked before, and i REALLY dont want to mess around with voltages. Do you think 3.5ghz will be possible on this cooler and motherboard? (i dont want to go too high as i want this processor to last at least 7-10 years)

Solution
Most Ryzen boards can offer automatic voltage regulation for overclocking. Go on the BIOS, find ratio multiplier and slowly increase it (A ratio multiplier of x30 is 3.0Ghz) If you're lucky, that board will automatically set the voltage since everything else is still set to Auto. Keep increasing the ratio bit by bit until you get a crash. When you get a crash, go back to the last ratio multiplier. As long as you're not getting completely crazy temperatures, it's safe to overclock. you should be able to achieve 3.5Ghz quite easily with the stock cooler.

hi I have got to 3.4ghz currently at temperatures (max load) at 62c. In your opinion, what is a 'crazy temperature' (just so im safe)
