[SOLVED] 4790k High temps on idle.

When i booted my computer today, i noticed that my CPU load was at 100% and running around 100c in Corsair Link. But in the task manager my CPU usage is around 9-10 % idle. I Have the "No fan error" on boot up so i'm leaning towards a water cooler pump failure or CPU that's dying.

Any help or input would be a appreciated thank you.

PC Specs:
CPU= i7 4790k
Cooler = Corsair H100i v2

Solution
I would lean toward a failed pump. You have an old stock cooler sitting around that you can test with (guessing you will need a stock backplate too)?

Yea same here, but whats weird is you can still feel one cold piping coming in, and the hot one coming out of the block / pump. I guess that doesn't mean it working properly. I'll have to find a stock cooler somewhere and swap it in. Thanks for the input

Your right .. that is weird. Could be that the pump is not going at full speed. I hate to throw it out, but it could also be some malware that shuts down when you open task manager (small chance, but still a chance). You have any other monitoring software (HWinfo ?) to see if you can confirm what Corsair Link is telling you?

Hey, I tried to boot up the system. Now i'm getting a BSOD with the error code " CRITICAL PROCESS DIED "
so i can't get too the desktop to run HWinfo. Still getting 75c in BIOS. I think my only option now is try to reformat and doing a fresh install at this point.

Yeah you're right i should prob fix the overheating issue first. I usually have round 30c in BIOS.

Update - Found a factory cooler and the overheating is gone, so the pump on the AIO was done. Just reinstalled windows and the BSOD's are gone. Everything is working perfect now :)
