I'm looking into building a PC soon, specs will be...
- i7-8700k
- MSI Z370-A pro
- 16gb DDR4 3000mhz
- ASUS GTX 1060 6gb
- EVGA 650W gold

I'm on a pretty strict budget here so I wasn't looking into spending too much on a cooler. I was thinking about the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. I'm leaning towards air coolers cause they're generally cheaper but I'm open to any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

AiO is not worth it unless you can spend $100 or more.

Cryorig H5 is about the cheapest I'd recommend. Then there's the Noctua NH-U14S and Dark Rock 4.

You could also checkout Scythe coolers like the Mugen MAX or the FUMA.

You didn't mention your case, which will determine the CPU cooler height you can fit.
If $30 is your budget then the Hyper 212 is about it. The Croyrig H7 is the other budget competitor, but has been up in price making it not worth the cost. I'd go with a Cryorig H5 if you can. Be sure to check RAM height compatibility if you get the H5 Ultimate and not the Universal.

I agree. Neither are ideal for the i7-8700K. They would work as a placeholder until you could afford a better cooler. They will keep you from burning up your CPU, but they will still run quite warm for long-term gaming use.

I see, what do you guys suggest that is fairly cheap but an ideal cooler for the 8700k? Would an AIO system be something worth looking into?
