So I have very good pc specs in my opinon. I have a gtx 1060 super clocked, and I have an intel i7-7700k with 16 ggb ram. My problem is that when I play fortnite, cs go, or any other games, i am lagging and on fortnite i get around 60 fps. I know there is something wrong, because I used to be getting 140-200 fps. What should I do? I invested so much money into this pc, and I cannot even game.
Thanks to everyone that can help out appreciate it

Download MSI Afterburner, see what the CPU usage, GPU usage, CPU temp and GPU temps are. High GPU usage is ideal when gaming, high CPU usage does not mean much, unless it's 100% constantly, which is a clear indicator of a CPU bottleneck. If the GPU usage is not 100% or close to it all the time, that is also an indicator of CPU bottlenecking. If either of the components have temperatures over 85 C , you should look into changing the fan profiles and make it more aggressive and also make sure you have ample air going into and out of your case to prevent overheating and thermal throttling of the components.

Your CPU shouldn't be a bottleneck, a 7700K is pretty good at avoiding that. My guess is some component is throttling due to the heat.

So do I run MSI afterburner while gaming at low FPS, or should i just run it normally with nothing running?

With the game running - use the On-Screen Display to see the stats while you are in the game.

I was also wondering could this problem be due to my hard drive? i have a 2 year old hard drive and it's not an ssd. Could this be the main problem that is causing my games to be low on fps?

2 years is not too old for a hard drive, but it could be possible. Your GPU might have to wait for the hard drive to send it the files it needs to render the game, and in the process the GPU has to slow down, causing stutters and low FPS. It may or may not be the problem, the only way to be sure would be try a different hard drive.
