Hello, trying to update my ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero motherboards BIOS but not seeing too much info online about it. Seen 1 video on it though.
Apperently I download the newest BIOS update on a flash drive. Insert the flash drive in the back of the PC. then press and hold the flashback button for 5 seconds.
Would this be correct?
Another question. The update ends up as a zipped file on my flash drive. Do I extract the files first before beginning the process?
Thanks for any info. I really don't want to screw this up.

Hi starmanlars :)

Follow these instructions carefully as there are risks with updating Bios incorrectly.

Using Flashback:
Download the Bios file and extract it to an empty single partition USB stick, formatted to FAT32.
Rename the file to M6H.CAP and insert it into USB port as per your MB manual section 2.2.

Power down your system so there is only power to the MB.
Press the Flashback button until it begins to blink. It will take a while and once it stops blinking your done.
If during Flashback the button remains lit then you have an issue. Usually a bad USB or incorrect file name or USB not formatted correctly.
Restart your system and check in Bios that new version is installed.

Quote: Flashback is last resort, why are you not just flashing from within the BIOS, safest and easiest way? End quote.

Is this just opinion or do you have some fact to share?

I always use the flashback method and never had any issues.
