[SOLVED] Is anything like this possible?

I’m not really sure where to post this, but I figured I’ll put it here.
The issue

I’m looking to buy/ build a storage server. But I want to back up computers ( pics, videos, important docs Etc) both on my network and remote networks such as my parents/ close family members. Ideally give them each their own shard network drive to backup important things to. Is anything like this possible? If so where would I start?

if they are "manual" back up then yes sure it is posible, but if you want some automatic backup you need some software to go with it. there are many many many services like that, but if you want to do it on your own then its little hassle setting it all up and you will need some hardware. but this is possible no problem.

Start with easier part - building "something" that will backup your local files. Once you master the software / settgins / procedures, you can start thinking about providing that "service" to your parents.

If you'll build from scratch - PC server loaded with likes of Nextcloud / OpenCloud would be good starting point.
