100% cpu usage in games

While playing some games my cpu usage is 90-100% and because of that my fps drops. Wanted to know if its possible to lower cpu while gaming.

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Intel Core i5 6400 @ 2.70GHz

16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1466MHz

ASRock Z170A-X1/3.1

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (MSI)

It depends on the game.

Some games will only hit 5% CPU, while others might hit 100%. It truly depends on the game engine, the action going on at the time, and how capable of a CPU you have installed.

Enable VSYNC (Vertical Sync) to limit the FPS to your monitors refresh rate. For example, a typical monitor runs at 60Hz, that means your video card (GPU) won't process anymore frames beyond 60 FPS. This should also lower the CPU requirements as well.

I always enable VSYNC but in some games for example Dishonored 2 or We happy few even on the lowest settings my cpu sometimes still is 100%

Are there settings in games which uses cpu ? If there is i could try making them very low or turning them off.
