Hello all,

First of all, thank you all for being part of this community, it has helped me greatly when looking for PC solutions.

However, for this particular issue I have searched all the forums for a solution but none so far.

I have a Z77-D3H Gigabyte Motherboard (REV 1.0) and in the past I had some issues with overheating so I switched the power outlet to a 600W and upgraded my video card to a GeForce 760. When I did this I was very new to the PC building world so I paid a technician to help me with these upgrades.

Everything was working smooth but I noticed now that my motherboard takes 3 beeps to load my OS instead of the usual 1 beep. No problem, it takes longer to boot but it works so I was fine with it.

So now, I have a GeForce 1060 that a friend of mine no longer uses, I tried to upgrade it with only uninstalling drivers and switching the video card but no luck. On these forums I find that the main reason is probably the BIOS version which is outdated, I check, and it is. I am running version F8 and in the website there is even F23b.
Now the most logical step is to update the BIOS, so I load it on to a USB and try to load into BIOS menu, but it will not work.

The BIOS menu loads, as shown in this screen, but It will not go into the menu, every time I press F12, F9, End, Delete, there is a CLICK sound coming from the motherboard but it will not load.
If I spam the keys it will not work properly and won’t boot up Windows OS.

I have uploaded the sound as well: https://vocaroo.com/i/s0kUF80jaqLI

It seems as if there is a problem when loading the BIOS MENU.

I have tried all the solutions I have found on this forum, only running 1 usb connection (keyboard), booting in safe mode (won’t boot), changing the keyboard, but none have worked.

THANK YOU for any assistance. It is greatly appreciated.

TLDR: My Z77-D3H Gigabyte REV 1.0 won’t load BIOS MENU, have tried almost all possible solutions.

Surprised the bios was stopping a 1060 from working while a 760 worked fine. Did you ever start flashing the bios the first time you tried or not? You need to be careful when updating bios, a failed/incorrect update can kill your motherboard if not done correctly. Gigabyte did have an update system called @bios which was highly NOT recommend to use by people.

I was a little unclear however, can you get your PC to boot at all now, or is it only when you try to update that you can't get into menu? If you cannot boot at all I would first suggest removing the motherboard battery... I can't remember how long you need to leave it out, try few mins although i think you don't really need anything like that much. Removing the battery will reset the bios and load the cmos settings, it may reset the bios back to a state which will at least allow you to boot again.

I apologize, this is my first post here.

It works, everything works fine, the problem is im trying to update the BIOS to run the GeForce 1060, because the switch did not work.

I cannot acces the boot menu, pressing F12 or END or DEL does not work.

Someone told me the clicking noise is probably a problem with the HDD so I will try to disconect.

Yeah I thought the clicking sound sounded like an HDD trying to read, although that shouldn't have any effect on the bios update. If you are only encountering problems when trying to actually update the bios I would first double check that the bios you are trying to install is compatible with your version/revision of the mobo... a later bios may not be compatible with Rev1.0 if there were later editions.

If not, below is a link to a very good guide to updating gigabyte card using Qflash, maybe follow this through and see if it helps, I found it a useful article when updating mine a couple of years ago. If you are 100% sure the bios is correct and 100% sure you are following the correct flashing procedure, then I would recommend contacting gigabyte support directly.
