[SOLVED] Fx 8350 or I5 3570k

Solution

Ideally, you don't "upgrade" to either of those.
The i5-3570k would also require a new motherboard and the 8350 is...mediocre.

And of course, we know nothing about the rest of the system, your use, or your budget.

Like USAFRet said, you need a new mobo for that i5. And fx 8350 is, not only mediocre it is really bad. I tried numeros of them.. But if you can get a motherboard for the i5 I would go for it, it will still be a reasonable upgrade comparing to yours.

Honestly you’re better off upgrading to something on a new platform. From what I understand the FX chips get slapped around by the new 2c/4t Pentiums on intels side and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the bottom end Ryzen Athlon 200GE easily beat them.

I tried it in real life, I own an old fx 8350 and I own one g4600 and it plays better.. Those fx processors were really bad and still are...

Yeah, I think the prizes are crazy right now. I remember for a few years ago.. Damn now its really a bad time building new computers....

The FX8350 would be an improvement, yes... the i5-3570 would offer some, but not much, improvement too...

Both platforms are discontinued!

Ryzen is the better upgrade.

Intel i3, i5, i7, i9 in either the 8xxx or 9xxx flavors are better too.

On the Cheaper CPU side: Athlon 200GE or maybe a Pentum Gold.

Again a new motherboard and RAM are needed. If you have an aftermarket cooler you want to reuse: Intel -> you'll need to find the leftover parts and instructions to reuse it. AMD -> an adapter may be necessary.
