So i recently built my dream PC, ive been in the PC building scheme for a good while but i am much more familiar with Intel CPU's and all their mumbo jumbo. Long story short, my first Ryzen system features a Ryzen 7 2700x. The Wraith Prism cooler is temportary until i can cough up some more cash for a NZXT AIO. But atm my Ryzen 7 2700x is running 30°C in the BIOS.... yet the fan sounds like a jet engine occasionally. When i look at temps using MSI Afterburner, my cpu is supposedly hovering around 60°C idle! (Granted, im on an Aorus x470 Mobo... not an MSI). Just curious as erlier today i had a complete system failure issue. During some ARMA3 gaming sessions both my monitors turned purple and everything ceased to work. I immediately cut power to the system then attempted a reboot. It wouldnt even post... After tons of troubleshooting and removal of all components... i tried the CPU... the CPU actually came out of the slot STUCK to the Wraith coolers bottom! Fishy seeing as the the CPU clamp was still down. I just went with it and reapplied some more MX4 Compound and called it a day. It eventually posted after about an hour like nothing had happened in the first place. This Ryzen system is causing me to lose Faith in my first AMD build. And reasons the temps may be off or a solution to why these issues would occur?

Solution
Yeah 60c idle is pretty high. U should aim for 35-45.

Maybe the CPU cooler wasn't mounted tightly enough or the pre-applied thermal paste was poorly applied or they didn't put enough which can happen.

Also, try a different monitoring software just in case.

What loads are u getting while idle?
