planning on getting a gtx 1080 ti amp! ed and a i7-8700k to go with it, what motherbord would be the best choice for these 2 components? or just best motherboard overall

Solution

Absolutely the Z390 would be the best fit especially as you can later down the road drop a 9900K if it ever drops in price...A good Z390 board will overclock the 8700K to 5GHz an above...And for the first time the Gigabyte boards have been very well reviewed as the best overall in the Z390 range...

In terms of boards, you can't go wrong with the Gigabyte Z390 boards all the way from the Pro upwards as they all have a 12 Phase...

Personally the Gigabyte Elite, Ultra or the very best in the Master..

Hey and thanks for answer, is this the motherboard you had in mind? https://www.komplett.no/product/1102948/datautstyr/pc-komponenter/hovedkort/intel-socket/gigabyte-z390-aorus-master-s-1151?ds_rl=1046627&ds_rl=1050417&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhNrksrmG3wIVjaiaCh1VMgh-EAAYASAAEgJ6r_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#

Yep, the Gigabyte Z390 Master. It is about the best you can get without going absurd price and it has just about everything including a fantastic VRM setup in a 12+2 Phase VRM with actual finned heat-sync cooling....Really nice motherboard that has been liked by all reviewers...

so a mix of 1080 ti amp , i7-8700k, 16gb ram 2x8, h115i PRO RGB water cooler in a NZXT H700i sound like a good combination with the gigabyte amster mobo you think? :D

Yeah, you can't go wrong! very similar setup to me as I have the 8700K on the older Z370 Gigabyte Gaming 7 motherboard and a H150i Pro cooler which works great...No issues overclocking to 5GHz and beyond but settled on a 4.9GHz 24/7 overclock at 1.278v on an offset/adaptive mode.

Your setup will run great, the H115i Pro RGB will do a great job on the 8700K and the motherboard is the top model giving you room to upgrade. The case also looks great...

But here is my build and yes I have gone RGB MAD!!!! It's like a disease, once you start, the madness takes over....
