Intel oem cpu overlocking

Hello..

Iam going to buy a intel core2quad q9650 oem ver. processor
My ques. is can i overlock this processor as this is a oem processor.
I read somewhere that they can't be overlocked.

Specs.
Gigabyte g41m combo motherboard.
DDR3 1066Mhz 4Gb ram
1 Tb WD hdd
Nvidia GT640

Old processor- core 2 quad q6600 @2.4Ghz.

Mind sharing a link to where you read that? Ideally I'd ask you to overclock on the X48 platform since it has a better ability to overclock. On the G41, you're just running the system with the risk of burning up the VRM's when overclocked. You will also need a beefy cooling solution for that Q9650.

I just hope you know what you're doing with those specs/hardware. If they're expendable, go ahead. If they're your bread earner, please stop.
