I recently build my first ever gaming rig. About 2 weeks ago i assembled all my parts and everything works fine. I even had installed my os. Now, 2 weeks later, my new pc wont turn on after being stored for 2 weeks because im still building my custom desk for it. Pressing the start switch on my case wont do anything as well as pressing the onboard start up and reset buttons. I even tried shorting out the mobo pins to no avail. However, the onboard rgb on my motherboard do lit up.

Things i tried as well:
-Self test my psu and it passed
-Attaching a fan to my psu and shorting the 24 pin with a paperclip and fan started spinning normally

My specs are:
Asus Maximus viii formula
Intel i7 6700k
32gb vengeance rgb ram
Cosair ax 1200i psu
500gb ssd
2tb hdd
No graphics card yet

From my initial conclusion the motherboard may be defective since the psu is working fine. Also, there is no error code displayed on my motherboard at all. If my conclusion is correct, how do i prove that my motherboard is really the malfunctioning component of my pc?

When you say no GPU yet, I presume you have tested with the on board iGPU connected to a monitor...If not, it wont start other than lighting up....Apologies in advance because you probably did check that, it's just I remember once my PC would not start and I forgot to connect the Power for my GPU....Took me a while before I figured out I had forgotten to connect the PCIe power...

vMax: i dont have gpu yet so i connected my monitor plug to my motherboard. Its not about the question of why my pc is not reaching POST but why my system dont power up when my case power switch is pressed. It seems like my motherboard is avoiding my psu to power up because even trying to jump the power switch on my mobo dont let it start. My monitor says no signal so meaning my motherboard is not really turned on. Please help me on this.

scout_03: i had tried pluging only one ram module and the 24 pin and 8pin cpu to the motherboard only but it still did not work. I'll try to connect the ssd later tonight to see if it would make any changes as i had not tried it yet. And yes i did check my psu switch and it is turned on already.
