I've created a bootable USB using Rufus 3.3 with a FreeNAS iso.

But it doesn't show up. Fast boot is off, secure boot disabled and CSM enabled for legacy. I've checked disk management and diskpart. The crazy thing is, now it suddenly gets SUPER HOT just being plugged in to a usb port. Did it dieded?

There are many reasons why a USB could fail. The fact the USB is extremely hot means it's about to fail or has failed. There are many factors in why a USB could fail. You could have a faulty plane in the PCB, The quality of solder used in manufacturing could be poor, the solder itself could be a bad job, the firmware in the host controller could be incorrect, or the NAND memory wasn't of quality and sending bad responses to the controller. You wouldn't know for sure the condition of your drive unless you had a lab analyze it... but I can tell you this, from selling thousands and thousands of drives... if it's really hot... it's either dead or about to die. Retail USBs or promotional USBs are typically low cost points and thus...

Also, I just disassembled my Unraid server to use FreeNAS since my trial was over (with two extensions) and the bootable USB from my Unraid server doesn't show up either. I've tried both the USB devices in both of my systems. NOTHING WORKS :(

Business to business organizations, like [link removed] might be a better fit if USB quality is something critical for your FreeNAS project.

Thank you very much for your answer. It was a really old usb. The extremely crazy thing is, TWO usbs died on the same day. Two completely different brands, sizes and purchase dates. That`s what threw me off the most!
