[SOLVED] Upgrading my PC CPU

So i have msi b85-g43 gaming as mobo and running intel i5-4460 and i planning to upgrade my cpu , what is the best cpu i can get with $300? sould i go for AMD instead or intel? should i need to extend my budget a lil bit to get a better one i don`t mind

I would go with a used 4790 and drop it into your current system. If you go with a new CPU from Intel or AMD, you will need a new platform (CPU, Mobo, and RAM). The platform cost will stretch past $300 for a decent upgrade over your current 4460. But a 4790 will work with your current hardware and is still a decent CPU.

you would need to extend you budget alot more since you will need to buy more parts if your looking to go for a modern CPU. the only option with your budget would be a better 4th gen or 5th gen intel CPU like the 4790 mentioned above
