Hello!
I believe I've settled on the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC as my mobo for my next PC upgrade. The only issue I'm trying to resolve is the power connector one. I've read a few threads which might have shed light on the answer, but I'm not convinced:

The mobo has an 8+4 power connection requirement. Is connecting everything necessary or is that "extra" 4 slot unnecessary? Can I get by with JUST connecting the 8 pin? I plan on running a single GTX 1070 and a Ryzen 5 2600. I have a 750 W PSU.

I've read answers that claim it's only needed for extreme overclocking; I've also read answers that say you should plug in every power connection possible for maximum mobo performance. For what it's worth I don't plan on doing any overclocking or tinkering. All I want is just a stable, nice new mobo for a new build.

Thanks guys!

Solution
Without overclocking you will only have to use the CPU_PWR1 (8pin) connector. The second 4Pins (CPU_PWR2) will only be necessary, like you said, while extreme overclocking the CPU, to stabilize voltage. It´s an optional feature of this board.
