Ive got my trusty steed still running strong suprisingly for how old she is. But its finally coming to the point where I cant get 144 frames for my monitor out of here anymore, and was wondering if changing out my graphics card to a 1060 be a good idea..? Or any other suggestions.?

Solution
Yeah quad core is the most, your only option really is 3770k which gives you hyperthreading. As I said an upgrade on your current platform will only give modest gains.

List your specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

You might also need to change the PSU depending on it's quality. How much would a GTX1060 6GB cost you and where are you located? I'd advise against used cards since they've probably been used for mining.

Yes in or around that just want to be able to play fortnite and battlefield and other games like that again at high/ultra setting agin

That’s still good but quad cores are entry level now for modern AAA games. I’ve got a 4670k oc’d to 4.3Ghz and in several games I see dips under 60fps and cannot average 100fps due to cpu maxing out and I’m not playing some of the really cpu heavy games released this year.

any idea best place to find these upgrades from since they are no longer made lol?

At this point I’d recommend moving to a modern platform. Upgrading your current cpu is going to give modest gains.

To upgrade using older components you are looking at secondhand sellers. Don’t know what country you are from but I’d say Ebay, gumtree, CEX...etc in the UK.
