I will be likely using a 12 core CPU and overclocking it, so I need a motherboard suitable for that. I will be mainly doing rendering and gaming, and have RGB lighting support.

You need to identify the CPU before you can select a motherboard. The CPU and the motherboard have to be compatible. For a 12 core CPU, the 2920x offers a very good value, but that platform cost are high.

AMD's 2700x is an 8 core/16 thread CPU that will do very well at rendering and gaming and will be a much cheaper platform. So unless you have to have the extra 4 cores, I would consider the 2700x.
