So I decided to finally upgrade from my sandybridge 2500k and bought a ryzen 5 2600 with the b450 ac cabon. My brother who's in town was helping out on the build, and he got started before we got home. Apparently, being used to intels, he thought the cpu bed cover was a plastic cover that was supposed to be removed and popped it off without removing the bracket completely. When i got home i popped back in without any issue, even though there were small signs of stress on the plastic sides. The cpu seemed to sit without issue and the comp booted up after the build was completed. So far on the stock cooler its been idling what i think is a little warm (45-50c) and while gaming its been hitting 80-85c. Im running it in a inwin 303 with 2 intake fans and 4 exhaust fans while i wait for a new bracket for my old h80i. Could the incorrect removal of the plastic piece be causing these highish temps?

CPU socket cover ? Never had any with any AMD based sockets. In any case, socket doesn't have metal covers like Intel's so leaver can't hold it down. Only TR4 sockets have metal bracket to hold CPU down and comes with a cover.
This shouldn't have any bearing to your temps, if you installed it properly, seemingly high temps may be due to high voltages set by BIOS at defaults or SW is reading it wrong. Use HW Info for most accurate measurements.

The plastic piece that was removed was the CPU bed cover for a lack of better word, it is where AMD CPU sits and where the pins enter. Not that anyone should ever remove it, but to remove it properly, online it shows you should remove the metal lever first (didn't mean bracket sorry). I do use hwmonitor, as well as ryzens own program solution. Voltages ocassionally Spike to 1.3 but most of these temps are coming while at 1.12v

Even if the plastic part of the cpu socket was removed incorrectly? Maybe its not allowing the cpu cooler to sit correctly for some reason? (even though i dont see how). reaching up to 86-87c doesnt seem right, even with stock cooler, but its my first experience with this cpu
