[SOLVED] Monitor Goes Blank for Seconds

I just upgraded my PC yesterday. Went from Ryzen 1600 to 2600. Also changed a GTX 1060 to GTX 1070. So I have a Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming G1 for running a pair of 27" monitors - DP to HDMI cables. I also have a Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini in the next PCIe slot. It will be mining in the background and doing whatever else it can to help.

Changed my Crucial SATA 3 500GB SSD to a 1T WD Blue M.2 2280. Planning to install fresh install Windows10 on the new M.2 either tonight or tomorrow. Depends how long all my backups take.

Also swapped my 2T data drive for a new 4T drive. Should have plenty of space for a while. I did however go from a 7200RPM down to a 5600RPM. Not sure if that will matter since it's only for data.

Since the upgrade, I've seen one or both screens go black for a second or two, and then come back on. I suspect it's either the cables (DP to HDMI), or the fact that I'm running both GPUs from the same power cable. I have a Corsair CS750M Modular power supply that's Gold rated. So my PSU should be fine. Should I run a separate power cable for each GPU or am I fine the way it is? Could it be the cables? Anything else to consider?

Any other thoughts about my rig? Changes I should make? Settings I should change?

Solution
The 12v rail might be faulty, now this is unlikely because coirsair products are normally high quality but there’s a chance. Just go into to HWmonitor or hwinfo or a monitor system that reads voltages and look for the psu 12v one. If that dips and a black screen appears you know it’s the psu

Looks like it's related to my AC/Heater window unit turning on. My right monitor goes blank for a second or two sometimes when the heater first kicks on. I'll be adding a 2nd power cable for the 2nd GPU in a few minutes. Maybe that will fix it.

Added a separate power cord for the 2nd GPU. Problem persists.... sometimes when AC/Heater unit comes on, one monitor goes blank for a second or two. I didn't have this problem with a CS600 PSU but I also was running a 1060 in the main slot - 1070 there now. But I was also running a 1060,1070, and 1050 off that same PSU with no issues back in the summer. ????¿¿¿¿

I was on windows 7 and had a similiar issue with black screens, sometimes mine would boot into a black screen forcing me to do a hard reboot, otherwise it'd just go black unpredictably and i'd have to do a hard reboot, and then at the end it would only go black for 3-10 seconds and come back with the display

finally corrected it by following the instructions i found in a thread over on the GeForce forums
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1035287/nvlddmkm-sys-crashing/?offset=1 scroll down to the 3rd post

The mods there feel a number of the Nvidia drivers are buggy - i followed their instructions for un-installing nvidia and other windows native graphic drivers using DDU - follow those instructions and install driver 387.92 - it's linked in the thread

then when i built my latest rig with Windows 10 Pro for OS, it was fine initially then about 3rd day the black screens retturned, inexplicably go black for 4 or 5 seconds to 10 seconds. I found Windows 10 had updated my Nvidia driver WITHOUT ME WANTING IT TO - figured out how to stop all updates, re-ran DDU in safe mode per instructions, and re-installed 387.92 again, and issue vaporized

google for how to stop windows 10 updating - it's fairly easy but you're basically telling windows your ethernet or wifi is a "metered connection svc) like you are connected via your smart phone, and it will not download anything without permission

Forgot to say, i'm running a GTX 1070

Try going to another room because it might be a power outlet problem with your heater, heaters tend to eat electricity and cause a dip in voltages in other sockets near by.
Also just make sure all gpu drivers are updated and same with the bios to eliminate variables.

I've had this rig on the same outlet for over a year. The problem started after upgrading some parts this weekend. Different power supply. Went from a Corsair 600 to a Corsair 750 modular. Things should be better, not worse. I'll try a different 750w PSU when the weekend gets here.
