Help with CPU/BIOS

So, I just built a new pc, but although everything lights up and starts to work, the monitor displays "no signal". I troubleshooted every option and reduced it down to my cpu. Since I have a i5-9600k with a z370 a pro mobo, you have to update the bios in order for the cpu to be compatible. However I cannot even reach bios because there is no signal. My question is does an incompatible cpu cause no display to the monitor? Although I went to Best Buy's Geek Squad for help, they said the cpu does not cause no display, but I believe he is wrong as he barely listened to a word I said. Any solutions are highly appreciated.

Solution
Most definitely an incompatible CPU will cause the computer not to boot properly and not display anything on the monitor.

I would return the Z370 motherboard and buy a Z390 motherboard instead.

However, wouldn't the easier option be to just borrow a compatible cpu or have a repair shop put in a compatible one and then update the bios for me? Or would you suggest returning my current and buying a new one as said before?

Ok, I guess I will return my motherboard. Thanks for your help!

I would rather start with a motherboard actually meant for the CPU in the first place. Everything is still new, so an exchange shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

But yes, you can get a cheap compatible CPU to flash the BIOS or have someone else do it. It's just not how I would prefer to do it.
