Hooefully this is posted in the right spot. So I bought a used flat screen tv from a guy on the internet. Met him, made the deal and put the tv in my truck. When I got into the truck to leave I noticed a horrible musty smell. The guy was already gone so I had no choice but to just take it and hoped it got better. The whole hour drive home the smell was just overpowering in my truck. I get it home and go to clean it hoping maybe I could get rid of the smell. I was wiping it with disinfectant rags. I took the feet off the tv and small roaches came out of the feet. I quickly kill them all and take the feet outside so the rest dont get loose in my apartment. At this point I was disgusted and feeling very bad about my purchase. I decide it's to much risk not to take the back off for fear of more bugs, so I did. I found a few more bugs and killed them all. Wiped all the metal in the back of the tv. Used compressed air to blow off the 3 circuit boards on the tv. Wasn't sure how to actually clean it. I proceeded to break down the tv, pulling the screens and all out. So now I am left with a bunch of pieces but the metal frame that the circuit boards are connected to, smells so bad. I have narrowed the smell down to the boards it self. I believe the smell is the nasty smell of German roaches. There are no bugs left. Everything has been wiped with disinfectant wipes but as I say the boards stink. And i can't wipe those for fear of damaging them. Any ideas of how to remove the foul odor in the boards? I have them outside now hoping maybe fresh air will do them some good. It's about 40 degrees so I hope nothing happens with it. I hate to just junk it because of all the money I spent on it. Really hoping for some advice or guidance. The tv is a LG model number 49uf6430. Thanks in advance.
