I have a z97 gaming 5 motherboard. When I first built my PC I had put my ram sticks in slots 3 & 4 and just recently learned that the dual channel slots are 2 & 4. I've had 16gb of ram although I haven't been receiving the benefits of dual channeling.
-Slots 3 & 4 work both together and on their own.
-Both sticks work alone.
-Slots 1 & 2 both give a boot loop both by themselves and when a stick is in another of the 3 other slots along with it.
-BIOS version is up to date
-The only setting in BIOS I have changed is manually setting my memory to run at 2400hz. I haven't messed with the timings. I'm not sure if this info matters but figured it should be included.
Specs are as:
z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard
intel i7 4790k
Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 2400 C11 2x8GB
BIOS version 1.13 (I'm assuming this corresponds to 1.D listed on the site considering the date in my system info matches the update date on the website)
