[SOLVED] Extremely unusual freezes, potential CPU problem?

I made a thread over on reddit but I haven't gotten much help over there, figured I might as well ask here too. Here is a link to the thread for reference:

Just put a build together with completely new parts. The first problem I encountered was when I tried installing windows 10 on a USB. I would get the white dot swirls that occur before the installation process, but then I would be greeted with a black screen that would not go away for hours. After that, I managed to install ubuntu successfully onto my SSD to try and troubleshoot using software tests. However, I saw that I was experiencing random hangs in ubuntu. Just out of curiosity, I tried running ubuntu off just a USB and still experienced the same hangs. Sometimes my computer would freeze seconds after booting to the desktop. Sometimes it would freeze when I open up firefox. Sometimes it freezes when I'm typing in a terminal. It's a completely erratic pattern that can occur as quickly as a few seconds, or as long as after several hours.

I have tried physically replacing each component of my build individually with parts that I know work for sure, but I still experience the hangs. The only component I have not replaced is the CPU since I don't have spare AMD CPU's on-hand. I did a CPU stress test on ubuntu using "stress-ng -c 12 --verify -v" for 4 hours. My temperatures seemed normal, and my system monitors showed all cores performing at 100%. During these 4 hours I experienced no hangs. However, after I finished the test, I closed the terminals, opened a new one, and I got a hang as soon as I started typing in the new terminal. I have also left memtest86 running overnight and done 10 successful passes with absolutely zero errors. I have also updated the motherboard bios, but that didn't change anything.

I am really running out of ideas here. Should I try physically swapping out the cpu for another one since that is the only component I have not swapped yet? If this is truly a CPU problem, why in the world was I able to do a 4 hour CPU stress test without hangs? I'll take any advice I can get here, I'm starting to run out of hope and considering just starting a new build altogether to be honest.
