CPU ram and motherboard or GPU upgrade

I was wondering what I should upgrade first my GPU or CPU. I play fortnite and I’m really not sure if it’s gpu or cpu intensive. My frames range from 180-210, but when there is an intense fight it drops too 60-100 depending on how big of a fight it is. 60-100 doesn’t sound that bad but it feels really choppy and slow.

I play on a 144hz monitor. 1920x1080
VSync is off.

Computer specs
i5 4690k 3.5mhz
1050ti ssc 4gb vram
2x4 gb ram 1333mhz (old pc part)
750 Corsair power supply
H81m p33 motherboard (old pc part)

When playing fortnite my cpu usage is max 100% and gpu is around 70-85% depending how high my frames are.

- If I were to upgrade my gpu I would get a gtx 1060 6gb

- If I were to upgrade my cpu I would get the Ryzen 5 2600x (with a new motherboard ofc)
And I would also get 2x8 vengeance 3000mhz (because of a new motherboard

2nd question. What is the main cause of FPS drop? Gpu or cpu.

Solution
I would say that the 1050 ti is your bottleneck. You aren't going to get the best framerates on Fortnite with it and keep them when a large battle takes place.

As what w.cateroul said, to upgrade your processor would be good, but after that, upgrade to at least a GTX 1060 6GB card. That will help with the dropping framerates.
