Hey! so I recently built a pc (yesterday) for gaming. everything went well and cable management is nice.

Here is my issues. It won't start.
I am using:
phanteks P300 Case
Asus Prime b450 micro atx MOBO
8gb ram (ballistic sport)
evga 600 psu
ssd & hdd
Ryzen 5 2600
Armor rx580 oc
(the graphics card and processor aren't installed yet. they're in the mail.)

I am sure that the CPU power cable from the psu and the mobo power cable from the psu are securely connected. I'm thinking it's the case cables. help ?

* EDIT *
- New psu ordered shipped and tested.
- New MOBO otw. if i have issues after i get the new mobo, i'm stumped.

Hi koda2448 :)

Well if there is no graphic card nor CPU installed then OFC it wont start. (Assuming all cabling is correct with a functioning PSU)
When you press the Start button the system will interrogate your Hardware during the Post cycle and stop if it finds no CPU or GPU and one of the MB Leds (check this) will come on and remain lit till the issue is resolved.

It's best to benchtest outside the case before assy in order to check hardware. You can also have a short between MB and case standoffs.

I know it won't boot bc there is no OS, ofc. I'm saying I cant get power to anything. i have everything installed how it is supposed to be according to a video using the same mobo. so, how do I start fixing this problem? do I need to unplug everything except the cables from the psu to the cpu power and mobo power? I cant do any hands any trouble shooting until this afternoon as I am leaving for work

Your first post says the system won't start not boot to an OS.
If it continues then I recommend you benchtest and determine that indeed the PSU is OK and all cabling to MB are connected correctly. 24Pin, 8Pin and any 4Pin your MB may require.
If still no go then RMA the MB.

as soon as I get home I am going to disconnect all cords and take out the mother board and then place the MOBO back in properly and make sure its secure. then I'm going to hook up the 24pin connector to the side of the MOBO, then I'm going to hook up the 8 pin connector to the cpu power spot. then I'm going to try and hook up the pw switch case cable and try to turn it on. what should I do from there if no power g
oes to anything?

Don't just put the MB back into the case till Hardware is tested. Lay the unit on the box the MB came in and with the PSU by it's side, connect the necessary power cables and then test it. If still nothing then it's the PSU.
There are three ways to test the PSU. One is to replace it with a known working unit with same or higher Wattage, two is to take it to an electronics store and have the unit tested under load and third is in Windows using a stress tester (that you can't do atm)
If the Power led lights up then switch power off and insert one module in the first slot as described before.
If the DRAM_LED again comes on then it's your RAM. Next would be your CPU. Assuming ofc the CPU socket has no bent pins. Your going to have to replace your TIM anyhow. Once the MB and cooler are removed, closely examine the socket pins with a magnifier.

Best of luck.

hey! so I did what you said. I have my motherboard on the box, and the only thing plugged Into my mobo is the 8pin connector near the cpu (which is the cpu power...I think) and the large 24 pin connector on the side. i plugged my power supply in and flipped the switch on and off a few times and nothing. so is my psu dead?

thanks man. will update when my new PSU comes in. UPS is coming to get it and I have a return and refund thing started with Amazon. cant believe parts just come faulty like that.

Normally EVGA sell good quality PSUs however some basic 80+ units are questionable and go thru QA without being checked. DOA can happen with any hardware, It's just bad luck.

hey so I got my new psu and I tried the same thing I did with the old one and nothing happens...Could the motherboard be the issue? also I dont see anywhere for any lights to be at on the MOBO that would lighlight up to signify power. I'm gonna try the paperclip method to test my psu today after work and I guess I'm going to file a refund for the MOBO. smh.
