Hi, I have a Lenovo Y720 laptop. Recently, I've been getting the lowest fps I've ever had. I used to get around 150 fps on csgo. Now im getting around 60. I recently bought BO4 and it's been getting 15 fps. It says its running on the 1060 in my nvidia control panel. However, my gpu temperatures are at 40 degrees which is the idle temperature. I factory reset my laptop but it seems like it hasn't helped. Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Ram: Samsung 16GB

Storage: 1TB HDD + 250GB SSD

Solution
What is your CPU Usage and RAM usage when you play games? Run a game and log what the percentages are.

Try these steps:
full scan for virus
- defrag hdd
- uninstall and reinstall drivers etc.

Also,

Check any programs you installed recently. If you notice a correlation between the fps drop and a programme then try installing it and see if it's better. One of your installed programmes could have a background process running that's taxing your performance which brings me to the next point.

Open your task manager and stop any unnecessary processes and look for any that you don't recognize. It could be that you have a lot of stuff running you didn't even realise that's demanding.

If it's still not working try running your computer...

My laptop is about a year old. I didn't do anything to my laptop. However, it only started dipping once I installed BO4

If it's still not working try running your computer in safe mode and try to run a game, if it still lags then it's most likely a hardware issue but if it's okay then you know it's most likely a problem with your software.

How many sticks of RAM do you have? try taking one out and then running one of your games. If your FPS increases, then that stick of RAM is bad.

i'd agree with mtracy1991, all of those things could be the cause. Also, are you sure it's not on the iGPU, as opposed to the 1060? Maybe you've changed a bios setting or windows profile? Try putting the windows profile on performance setting, or whatever the max setting is. Sometimes on the balanced setting it might switch between iGPU and discrete GPU.

Also, check nvidia control panel settings. reset everything to default, or to be sure, do a fresh install of the GPU drivers, and select the custom install option and then click the clean install. This will default the new driver and remove any profiles that may have change over time.
