Motherboard Lights, Will Not Boot

Greetings,

I've just put together a new computer: Asus Z370-I, Core i5-8600K, Noctua NH-C14S cooler, Seasonic Prime Ultra Gold 550W PSU, 16 GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 3200, Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB SSD, in a Fractal Design Define Nano S case. I got everything assembled, plugged it in, turned on the PSU, and the motherboard lit up: rainbow cycling LEDs, and an orange power indicator LED in the lower right corner. But when I hit the power switch, nothing happens.

I've checked every power connection, they're all good. I took off the front panel, and the wiring at least looks as if it's connected to the power switch correctly. I tried flipping the power switch connection to the motherboard, and that didn't help. The error indicator LEDs are NOT lit, only the orange power indicator at lower right. I've also run through the checklist suggested often here, and nothing jumps out as a strong contender.

Motherboard standoffs and spacers are all integral now, correct? The case definitely has integral standoffs, and neither the case nor the motherboard has the non-conductive spacers I'm used to, but the safe locations to screw down the motherboard are clearly marked and appear insulated. I don't think this is it, but thought I'd better check.

I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal paste, which as I understand it is not electrically conductive, so that shouldn't be the problem. I know I seated the CPU correctly (there's only one way to do it without a hammer, after all).

Any suggestions?

Thank you! It wasn't the RAM, but it WAS the power supply. I pulled the PSU from my own computer and plugged in the MB and CPU cables, and it semi-started (fans came on, but since there was no power to the SSD it just got confused).

I feel a bit dim for not checking the PSU before shouting for help. Sorry about that. I've just never had a SeaSonic PSU show up DOA before. I assumed I must have screwed up somewhere.

Thanks again!
