Hey, mike2012 here. I have a GTX 1050 and I've got it to a stable 200mhz core overclock. The temperatures are all fine too. However, this GTX 1050 does not require a 6-pin connector and only takes power from the PCI-E slot.

So I was wondering, is it possible for the GTX 1050 to draw too much power from the PCI-E slot and damage if I overclock too high or will the GPU just automatically downclock when the power limit is reached?

Solution
Yes, however you need to be reasonable with the overclock, and if you can measure it, make sure the power draw never exceeds 75W by much. (or at all if you have multiple PCIE cards).
