Hi there, I did build my own PC but the display just wont show after start.

Here are my parts:
- MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon Motherboard
- Gainward GeForce Phoenix GTX 1060 6GB
- Intel Core I-5 8600k Processor
- 2 x Trident Z RGB 8 GB RAM
- 450w Power Supply
- Be Quiet Cooling System for Processor
- 256 GB SSD
- 4TB HDD
- Sharkoon TG5 Case.

Now i plugged everything in according to the manuals. The PC will start but there is just no display. First i tried it with a DVI Cable on my PC Monitor, then i tried it with a HDMI on my TV - still no display.

I swtiched off the PC on the power supply and then pressed the start button. After that i did turn on the power supply again. Now the PC Starts automatically. When i do this the "No Display" will not show up anymore. Now i get the a display with a very "broken" image of the MSI BIOS. I can not read any letters or do anythng when i press a button the screen gets black. When i restart the PC i get " no display" again.

So what could i have done wrong? Any ideas?

I realize there are smaller units, I mean the VS series is Corsair’s lowest quality.

Not saying your psu is the problem but it could be. Other possibilities are a bad cable, bad ports/bad gpu, or bad mobo. You have to start eliminating possibilities. Plugging the gpu into a known-good system is a first step. Putting the other system’s gpu into yours is a second one.

Clear your CMOS first, remove the battery for a minute or so, remove the 1060 and plug your monitor into the motherboard and see if it boots, if it does shut it down and insert the 1060 go into bios setting and see if it detects it, if it does plug you DVI in the 1060 and you should be set.

I tried it again this morning. I plugged the HDMI to the mainboard and used a brand new monitor and it worked. Looks like the other Monitor was just a bad and old one.

But there is still an issue with the Graphics card because i tried it with the DVI Cable on the Graphics card Port yesterday, thats when it didnt work too. Graphics Card also doesnt show up in the Bios. I will unplug the graphics card and take it out - then plug it again. Maybe i did something wrong there.

That is the minimum watts recommended for that gpu and that’s doing no overclock. And while not terrible, that is the lowest quality psu corsair makes and is more suited to office computers.

Do you have another pc or a friend with a pc you can try the gpu in?

What power unit do you recommend? And actually 350W exsists too.

By PC Build needs 313 Watts in total. So i dont see why 450W is not enough :)

Makes sense. Well it worked this morning on another TV. I am gonna buy a Display Port Cable for my Main Monitor and re-install the Graphics card.. maybe i forgot something or i used the wrong cable. If this doesnt work i am gonna buy and try a 600W Power Supply.

Problem solved... turns out the GPU was plugged on the PCI x8 instead the PCIx16 and therefore not correctly plugged in. And my monitor was just bad - i plugged a Display Port into a new monitor. All works fine now.
